Basic Characteristics of Glazed Tiles

Aug 10, 2025 Leave a message

Glazed tiles are a ceramic roofing material made primarily from high-quality clay (such as kaolin), infused with a mineral glaze, and fired at high temperatures (approximately 1200-1300°C). The glaze coats the surface, which, after firing, forms a smooth, waterproof, and vibrantly colored protective layer. Glazed tiles come in various types, including tubular tiles, flat tiles, drip tiles, and ridge tiles, and are widely used on sloping roofs in Chinese architecture.

The lifespan of glazed tiles varies depending on their material, craftsmanship, and usage environment, but they are generally known for their durability.
