Lifespan Of Glazed Tiles

Sep 10, 2025 Leave a message

Traditional Handmade Glazed Tiles: In ancient architecture (such as the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace), high-quality handmade glazed tiles can last 50–100 years, or even longer. For example, some of the glazed tiles in the Forbidden City in Beijing have remained intact for centuries, thanks to sophisticated firing techniques and regular maintenance.

Modern Machine-Made Glazed Tiles: Industrially produced glazed tiles, using standardized processes and high-quality raw materials, generally have a lifespan of 30–70 years. High-quality glazed tiles (e.g., those using imported glazes or advanced firing techniques) can approach the durability of traditional tiles, while standard products may have a shorter lifespan.

Low-End Glazed Tiles: Due to poor raw material quality or inadequate firing techniques, some low-cost glazed tiles may only have a lifespan of 10–30 years and are prone to cracking, fading, or glaze peeling.
